The Geezer Pleezer 4-miler has been run at Carolina Friends School since 2001. I have amassed all the results since then and age-graded the finishers using the World Masters Athletics tables compiled by Alan Jones and incorporated into the RunScore software we use to score our races. The result is an “age-graded score” that we use to compare performances of runners of different ages and sexes. This “Hall of Fame” honors the runners who have attained a score of 70 or above. Admittedly, this is an arbitrary cutoff, but I have seen references that consider 70-and-above to include: Regional Class; National Class; and World Class. The table only includes the best performance for each runner and shows the year and age at that time. Many honorees have surpassed the cutoff score multiple times—the second “place” column shows where the runner would place if we included all performances.

2022 note: Alan Jones updates his age-grading tables every five years and, of course, age-group record times get faster with each revision. I originally calculated the scores using the 2015 tables but now I’m using the 2020 modifications. This inevitably leads to a lowering of the scores and a small amount of shuffling of the individual placings. Also, a few of the honorees, scores are now slightly below the cutoff. We at HOF headquarters do not remove people from the Hall once they have been “immortalized”, so there are some grandfathered members.
