Misery Run 2002

Everything came together nicely for a spectacular day of cross-country running. The course would have been a muddy mess even without the cold rain on race day. You had to be there to believe the yuck the runners ran through. Three loops to spread out the runners also tired them out. The footing was really bad on the second and especially the third loops. I estimated the course to be about 5.6 miles. We had some close predicters and some far off guessers also. The smiles on people's faces as they approached the finish line could have been because they were having fun or because they knew they were soon to be out of the rain, mud, cow poop and rooty trails. I am anxious to see the pictures Chris took.

Volunteers:

Karen Murphy got to the run late and helped cut up fruit and bagels instead of running. Rachel Toor did the first of three loops of the race and felt sickly so she stopped and helped with food preparation also. Chip Allen, Paul Bloom, Barbara Hindenach and Luke Lucas were course monitors and cheerers. Chris Crowder took some picures and yelled encouragement. Carolyn Huettel picked up bagels, did registration and helped with timing. Special thanks to Luke for the use of his house and farm. He is a very hospitable man.

Race Director - Jim Clabuesch.
