Also finishing at least half of a lap were Ashwin Peres da Silva — age 10, Melissa Harrison — age ll, and Nalini Peres da Silva — age 8.

Much appreciation to volunteers Luke Lucas, Carolyn Huettel and Bryan Kempter.

We were/are right in the middle of a dry spell of weather, so the only wetness on the course were the fresh cowpies on the finishing section. The distance of the course ranged from 3.8 to 4.4 miles, depending on whom you talked to. Chocolatey awards went to

Pat Bruer and Alfred Kleinhammes tied for first with :27 off of their predicted times.

Chris Selvaggi took second with :39 and Deb Bialeschki third with :52.

First overall male and female went to Rob Wilson and Betsy Kempter.

First overall male and female master went to Neil Moore and Eileen Tyler.

Ole was eldest and Asher was youngest. Tom Mitchell took median honors and Susan Slade was given the award for sweeping the course, even though Bob Nelson was the true final finisher. I owe Bob a chocolate bar, I must have blanked out under the pressure of doing all that math. Sorry Bob. Dwayne Allen got one for being so far off his predicted time, I couldn’t believe it.

You may have noticed that I only had three volunteers. The word has gotten out how great and fun the course is, and everyone signed up for the Winter Series wants to run the race instead of work it. Next year, follow their cue, come out and run some real cross-country with us at Luke’s farm. You’ll be glad you did.
