Summer Track 2024


summertracknodatesbannerGodiva Summer Track returns to Durham Academy Upper School Track on Wednesday, May 22nd.  We'll have nine weekly meets this summer running through July 24th. 

Results: May 22, May 29, June 5, June 12, June 19, June 26

No registration required, just show up and run/walk as many events as you choose. No track experience required (we have runners young and old among us). No club membership required. Please read on to learn more then join us on the track this summer.

Time: All meets begin at 7:00 p.m. sharp, rain or shine.

Location: Durham Academy Upper School Track, 3601 Ridge Rd, Durham, NC 27705

Weather policy: Meets will be held rain or shine unless conditions are deemed unsafe (repeated nearby lightning or standing water on the track). Decisions about cancellation or postponement will be based on conditions at the track at starting time and NOT on forecasts!

Support Summer Track

Cost: This season we ask that participants plan to contribute $5 per meet to help defray the additional security fees the club needs to rent the Durham Academy track. We'll have a bucket on site to accept cash, but if it is more convenient to make your donation online, please use the PayPal Donate button. It is fine to make a single donation in an amount to cover your participation throughout the season. You do not need a PayPal account to use this service. Thanks for supporting Godiva Summer Track!

Long Night Events (May 22, June 5, June 19, July 17)

  • Mile Run(1609m) (3 heats - waterfall start)
    • Heat 1 -- All paces – finishing in 7:30 minutes or longer
    • Heat 2 -- Intermediate pace – finishing between 6:00-7:30 minutes
    • Heat 3 -- Fast pace – finishing in 6:00 minutes or less
  • 200m (lanes 1-5, self-seeded – younger runners and slower runners go first)
  • Mile Race Walk (1609m) (1 heat - waterfall start)
  • 800m (3 heats - waterfall start)
    • Heat 1 -- All paces – finishing in 3:30 minutes or longer
    • Heat 2 -- Intermediate pace – finishing in 2:45-3:30 minutes
    • Heat 3 -- Fast pace – finishing in 2:45 minutes or less
  • 5km (1 heat - 12.5 laps - waterfall start)

Short Night Events (May 29, June 12, June 26, July 10, July 24)

  • 1500m (3 heats - waterfall start)
    • Heat 1 -- All paces – finishing in 7:00 minutes or more
    • Heat 2 -- Intermediate pace – finishing between 5:30-7:00 minutes
    • Heat 3 -- Fast pace – finishing in 5:30 minutes or less
  • 100m (lanes 1-5, Self-seeded – younger runners and slower runners go first)
  • 1500m Race Walk (1 heat - waterfall start)
  • 400m (lanes 1-5, self-seeded – younger runners and slower runners go first)
  • 3km (1 heat - 7.5 laps - waterfall start)
